At Travel with Spirit, we believe journalism is a craft you learn mostly by doing. With that purpose, we seek to inspire not just our readers, but the writers who contribute to our pages – young or old, experienced pro or aspiring novice.
Travel with Spirit provides a platform for journalists and photographers seeking an outlet for their travel features. We believe the very best travel writing stems from who we are. These stories come from our hearts, our relationships, and our values.
Chris Lawson
EDITOR
Chris Lawson has spent more than 30 years in the media, shaping stories through both words and images. A seasoned photographer, picture editor, and journalist, his career has taken him from the hectic news agencies of Fleet Street to 16 years at the Financial Times, where he covered some of the most memorable moments in recent history.
A member of the International Travel Writers Alliance, Chris is a regular contributor to trade magazine Allways Traveller and formerly served as editor of the respected Sussex-based newspaper Rye News.
Today, as editor of Travel with Spirit, he combines his passions for travel, photography, and storytelling—inviting readers to join the conversation and be part of a community where travel, culture, and storytelling meet.

John Minter
Writer
John Minter has spent a lifetime on the water. A passionate and accomplished sailor, he has long been drawn to the rhythm of the tides and the freedom of life at sea.
When he’s not aboard his yacht, John’s interests take him to land—where a love of fast cars and a deep curiosity about the world continue to shape his writing and outlook.
His varied career has taken him through industry, the Territorial Army, and regional journalism, giving him a wealth of real-world experience to draw upon. Another former editor of the Sussex-based Rye News and an accomplished author, John is currently at work on the second book of a trilogy inspired by a fictional port on the Sussex coast.
With his yacht doubling as both office and inspiration, John brings an authentic seafarer’s perspective to Travel with Spirit—writing with insight, humour, and a deep respect for the sea and those who make their lives around it.

Daisy Thomas
Writer
Daisy is a writer and blogger whose work appears in a range of regional lifestyle magazines. She is also the author of a book exploring the challenges and rewards of life in rural communities.
Passionate about the Sussex countryside she calls home, Daisy writes vividly about local landscapes, global journeys, and the people and places that make both so memorable. A strong advocate for local food, produce, and community enterprise, she has become a respected voice for rural living.
A lifelong traveller, Daisy often says, “Nobody ever forgets a road trip – good, bad or ugly.” It’s a philosophy that perfectly captures her love of adventure and her eye for the stories that unfold along the way.
