A new community in the Serengeti

Sick of the cold, wet, dreary months of deepest winter? It’s time to start dreaming of your next escape to the sun.

The Elewana Collection, East Africa’s premier boutique safari collection with spectacular properties across iconic locations in Kenya and Tanzania, has opened the doors to its latest, and most anticipated safari lodge – Serengeti Explorer.

Take in awe inspiring views of the Serengeti as you relax by the pool

Located along the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Explorer offers a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and provides a front row seat to the iconic Great Migration, where each year, 1.5 million wildebeest and zebras traverse the land on their epic journey. One of the greatest natural spectacles on earth, this annual migration passes directly in front of Serengeti Explorer, perfectly positioned on the Nyaboro Hills overlooking the endless plains.

An ambitious project to reimagine an existing property, the new lodge has been several years in the making, crafting an experience that transcends the iconic game drive.  Expert guides lead adventures with exclusive safaris and game drives, maximising opportunities to witness predators, herbivores, and a vast array of birdlife in their natural environment.  Promising much more for the discerning traveller, Explorer combines a world-class safari experience with high-end in-property facilities. Not just home to the Serengeti’s first purpose-built onsite hide, there’s a photographic studio, rhino tracking, guided bush walks, stargazing, a beautiful infinity pool, gym, and a wellness centre offering a selection of treatments, massage, and yoga, inspired by the surrounding African plains.

A wide selection of dining options includes the main Acacia restaurant, Kisimani pool bar and restaurant, an outdoor Boma experience, and the Divai wine cellar and chef’s table. Menus are committed to producing the highest quality dishes blending local flavours and international influences with the freshest locally sourced ingredients.

General Manager, Emile Muller, with an illustrious hospitality career behind him, tells us guests will embark on a wonderful journey and adventure when staying at Serengeti Explorer. “From game drives, sundowners, and bush breakfasts to gourmet meals in different venues, this is not just a lodge; it’s a sanctuary in the wild offering a variety of immersive experiences. There couldn’t be a more fitting location than the heartland of the Serengeti where age-old traditions still thrive, and well-being is deeply ingrained in the way of life. Other lodges are a place to stay. Our concept is to make a place where people feel they belong – a community.”
